Winch Test |
|
Mr. Richard Aho of Mile Marker, Inc. (Mile Marker) contacted Applied Technical Services, Inc. (ATS) on 24 August 1999. Mr. Aho requested that ATS conduct testing of the production model XD9000i winch
manufactured by Warn Industries, Inc. (Warn). Mr. Aho made arrangements to have a new XD9000i winch as well as several spare motors and steel wire ropes shipped from Warn resellers directly to
ATS in October 2000. Mr. Aho shipped a Warn HS9500i winch to ATS as well so that limited testing could be performed on that winch as well. |

U.S. Army Equipment |
| The choice for the U.S. Army is MileMarker's 2-Speed Hydraulic Winch System. After 2 1/2 years of rigorous testing , the choice to upgrade from the problematic electric winches was easy. Using the stock power steering pump as the hydraulic source, MileMarker winches have pulled a 8600 lb. Military HMMWV (Hummer) up a 60% grade in the dead of winter 70 feet NON-STOP with no driver assist! |

Supacat |
| Supacat have designed a very specialised military vehicle called the HMT. The intials actually stand for High Mobility Transport, which rather understates this machine. The specifiaction that is truely impressive and to enhance the mobility of this big load carrier they incorperated our latest H12-2speed hydraulic winch into the standard specification. With a GVW of around 7 tonnes, the engineers at Supacat knew that only a tough hydraulic winch was going to really work, when the fully laden vehicle gets stuck. Especially in the harsh and varied environments in which the HMT is designed to be operate. |

Hydraulic or Electric? |
| On the basis that hydraulic winches are more powerful, reliable, durable and safer. The reasons for choosing electric rather than hydraulic are often based on cost and perceived complexity. After all a battery powered winch is just hooked up to the battery and away you go. If you don't expect too much in terms of reliability or performance this is roughly true, or absolutely true if the winch is just for show. |

ARB |
| Engineering a bull bar requires careful consideration of a number of factors to ensure it properly serves its purpose. Factors such as vehicle design, crush rate, air bag deployment, approach angles, accessory fitment, strength, weight and aesthetics are accessed in every ARB bar before it enters production. Each bull bar originates from premium, cold rolled sheet steel. Computer controlled laser cutting equipment, mandrel bending machines and MIG welders are used to shape the materials into a structurally sound shell. Additional reinforcements are added, as are steel uprights and cross bars on deluxe models – or a large centre tube on Sahara models – which further improves overall integrity. Mounting Systems Without a properly engineered mounting system that caters for individual vehicle designs, a bull bar is virtually useless. ARB mounting systems are vehicle specific and designed to spread impact over both chassis rails, thereby minimizing damage caused by a collision. Winch Applications ARB manufacture a wide range of bull bars that accommodate fitment of a recovery winch. All ARB winch bars are built to handle the massive strain generated during winching operation. Air Bag Compatibility ARB air bag compatible bull bars and mounting systems are built to replicate the vehicle’s crush rate, thereby ensuring complete air bag compatibility without compromising protection levels. You won't find a more thoroughly designed and manufactured vehicle protection system than an ARB bull bar.

LightForce |
| LIGHTFORCE is committed to ongoing development of ‘state of the art’ spotlight technology and professional portable lighting solutions, utilising ‘space age’ injection moulded componentry. An example is the computer designed parabolic moulded reflectors. These are manufactured from extremely high temperature resistant engineering polymers, unique to LIGHTFORCE driving light and spotlight technology. LIGHTFORCE products have been in commercial production for more than fifteen years with the primary focus on product development and refinement. LIGHTFORCE Lights carry the following features: - Lightforce versatile clip-on filter system. This allows you to change the colour of the beam for special applications and driving conditions. The beam pattern can be widened from the standard 2 degrees by fitting the supplied focusing kit comprising easy to install 6 and 12 degree focusing collars - Lightfoce's strength is legendary! Under strict police supervision we subjected our lights to a test that redefines the concept of extreme testing! At a distance of 15 metres we subjected a light and filter cover to six rounds from a police issue 12 gauge Remington 870 pump action shotgun, utilising #7 shot shells. Result? The polycarbonate filters did not shatter like glass or acrylic. Unbelievably, the light was still shining bright! We invite other manufacturers to try this test (Similar test also performed with a .22 calibre rifle at 100 metres) - A mixture of polycarbonate and glass filled nylon ensure an extremely strong yet very light. Unlike other lights on the market which have glass lenses, with metal bodies. Some cheaper lights do have 'plastic' bodies but they still have glass lenses. Glass is very heavy and breaks easily. Metal is also heavy, rusts and can fatigue. - Lightforce reflectors are like a mirror. Compare our reflector quality against the opposition brands. Quite literally the heart of the legendary performance. Our reflectors are a near perfect parabola, many others compromise performance with overall cosmetic appearance.
